I had the pleasure of working with the Kevin Abernathy Band in the Summer of 2008 on some tracks at my studio the Toneadrome in Nashville, TN.  While these tracks didn’t make his 2009 release “A Beautiful Thing” I think some of these tracks turned out better than those on the record, particularly: Stay, City, Dinner Bell, and Chicken Head.

The record was recorded on Pro Tools HD in a large turn-of-the-century loft in Nashville which give the drums their Bohnm-like sounds.  The drums were recorded in Stereo and there were lots of vintage gear available for the session including Kevin’s 70s Gibson Les Paul Deluxe, an original Marshall Plexi, and my silverface Fender Vibro Champ.  On Kevin’s vocals we mainly went with a Peluso P12 (AKG c12 clone) or an Audio Technia AT4050.  While all of the tracks didn’t turn out 100% the way we wanted, the tracks that did really sounded great!

Here is the Music Player. You need to installl flash player to show this cool thing!
